The Recipe How-To

Step One: Prep the chicken!

To make homemade Chicken Doodle Soup, you will first need to “make” chicken. Now this might sound strange, but trust me it’s worth it! Bring 10 cups of water to a boil and add 1 bay leaf, 1 teaspoon chicken bouillon, and 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts. Let the chicken cook for approximately 12-15 minutes until fully cooked. Once done, remove the chicken from the pot and set aside.

Step Two: Making the spaetzle noodles!

While your chicken is cooking, begin making your homemade egg noodles or spaetzle noodles. You can purchase pre-made spaetzle noodles or make them from scratch. Follow the instructions on the package or recipe to prepare the noodles.

Step Three: Prepare the Bok Choy and Kluski Amish!

When both noodle and bok choy are ready, heat a large pot over medium-high heat. Drizzle some olive oil into the pot, then add in chopped herbs like parsley, thyme, and rosemary. Give it a gentle stir and add in your Kluski Amish (homemade egg) noodles, Bok choy, and any other vegetables of choice.

Step Four: Add in Your Chicken

After adding in your vegetables of choice, grab your cooked chicken breasts and begin shredding them apart. Add them back into the soup pot with any accumulated juices from cooking.

Step Five: Thicken With Cornstarch

When everything has heated through (make sure everything is piping hot!), take some cornstarch (the amount should depend on how thick you want your soup). In a small bowl mix the cornstarch with cold water until completely dissolved. Slowly pour this mixture into the soup pot while constantly stirring until thickened to your liking.

And that’s it! Your delicious homemade Chicken Doodle Soup is ready to be served. You can pair your soup with warm crusty bread or crackers for added texture and satisfaction. Enjoy!

As with any recipe, there are countless ways to make it uniquely your own. Here are a few ideas for substitutions and variations that will make your chicken doodle doup noodle soup recipe truly stand out.

To start off, if you’d like to switch up the type of noodle you use, try using hearty egg noodles or yankee doodle pasta instead of spaetzle noodles. For a fun twist on the classic chicken noodle soup, you could add in some hor fun, a type of wide Chinese noodle that pairs wonderfully with the savory broth.

If you’re looking for a vegetarian option, simply omit the chicken and replace the homemade chicken broth with a vegetable broth of your choice. You could then add in some vegetables like bok choy or carrots for added flavor.

For a heartier version of this soup, consider adding in some chunks of potato or parsnip along with the chicken. This will not only add more substance to the dish but will also create a unique flavor profile that will keep your guests coming back for more.

Finally, if you’re short on time or simply prefer to use pre-made ingredients, you can swap out the homemade chicken broth for store-bought and use pre-cooked rotisserie chicken instead of making your own. Just be sure to adjust the amount of salt and other seasonings accordingly.

No matter how you choose to make your chicken doodle doup noodle soup recipe, remember to have fun with it and don’t be afraid to get creative!

When it comes to serving chicken doodle doup, there are plenty of options that will pair beautifully with this savory dish. First and foremost, I recommend serving the soup in a large ladle or bowl, allowing guests to top their portions with spaetzle noodles and additional herbs like parsley or bay leaf for that extra kick of flavor.

For a hearty meal, serve alongside warm crusty bread, such as French baguette or ciabatta, as it will sop up any leftover broth and bring out additional flavors in the soup.

For a lighter option, consider pairing with a mixed greens salad tossed with some cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onions for an added crunch.

Alternatively, if you’re looking to take chicken doodle soup to the next level of comfort food pairing, consider adding some hor fun or yankee doodle. These traditional Chinese or American noodles will add extra flavor and depth to your dish that your guests won’t be able to resist.

To make the dish more filling, I recommend adding some bok choy or other leafy green vegetables to the soup. This will add an extra layer of flavor to the soup and round out the meal nicely.

Overall, there are plenty of ways to pair this classic homemade chicken noodle soup recipe. Whether you opt for something traditional like noodles use klushi amish 10 cups cooked boneless skinless chicken breasts or throw in some additional herbs and spices, this chicken doodle doup noodle soup is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.

Make-Ahead, Storing and Reheating

As someone who frequently entertains guests, I understand the importance of planning and preparing ahead of time. That’s why I’ve made sure that this Chicken Doodle Doup recipe is perfect for making ahead and reheating later.

To make it ahead of time, simply follow the recipe’s instructions up until the point where you add the spaetzle noodles. Let the soup cool down to room temperature, then store it in an airtight container in the fridge. The soup can be kept refrigerated for up to 3 days.

To reheat the soup, heat it up slowly on low to medium heat on the stove, stirring occasionally to ensure even reheating. If you find that the soup has thickened too much in storage, simply add a little water or chicken broth to thin it out.

As for storing leftovers, you can store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat them following the instructions mentioned above. However, I would suggest adding fresh spaetzle noodles when reheating leftovers as they could get mushy otherwise.

In conclusion, knowing how easily this Chicken Doodle Doup recipe can be made ahead and reheated is perfect when it comes to hosting dinners and having leftovers for busy weekdays.

Tips for Perfect Results

If you want to be the talk of the town with your chicken doodle doup recipe, it’s important to nail down the details. Fortunately, I’ve got some tips to help you make the best doodle soup ever.

First and foremost, consider using homemade chicken broth. It will add a depth of flavor that cannot be achieved with store-bought bouillon cubes or boxed broth. You can make chicken broth by boiling chicken bones with aromatics like onion, carrot, celery, bay leaf, and herbs like thyme and rosemary.

Additionally, don’t forget to skim the foam off the top of your broth as it cooks. Doing so will ensure that your broth is clear and free of impurities.

When making your spaetzle noodles from scratch, make sure to add enough water to thin out your batter. This will ensure that your noodles are light and fluffy rather than dense and chewy. If you’re not comfortable making spaetzle from scratch, try substituting with egg noodles or yankee doodle.

For an added nutritional boost, try throwing in some bok choy or other greens to create a heartier soup. Hor fun is also a great noodle substitute if you’re looking for an East Asian twist on this homestyle chicken noodle soup recipe.

Finally, if you’re short on time or simply want to simplify the recipe, take a shortcut by using cooked boneless skinless chicken breasts instead of boiling a whole chicken. You can also use cornstarch instead of flour to thicken the broth without sacrificing taste.

Following these tips will help guarantee that your chicken doodle doup will be both delicious and impressive. So don’t be afraid to get creative and experiment a little!
