Yoga, Commercials & Other Friday Randoms

Friday.  Rainy Friday.  But a Friday is a Friday nonetheless, right?! :P

I’ll take it!

I think the title of this post pretty much sums up what the upcoming low-key weekend has in store for me.  After pretending I was in college last weekend and getting ready to do it at my alma mater next weekend, I’m takin’ a bit of a breather ;)

Yoga

If you are looking for a great yoga class in the Richmond area, I have to tell you that I think I found one of my favorites last night.

I tend to do most of my yoga practice at home, but with it being National Yoga Month, I’ve found myself venturing out to try some classes in the local area.

Last night Brittany and I decided to check out a Community Yoga Class hosted by Project Yoga Richmond.

The instructor, J Miles, led the Whole Foods Yoga Demo last Sunday and I really enjoyed his instruction so I was excited to see what this class had to offer.

Let me tell you that this class did not disappoint.  I learned some new poses and felt amazing afterwards, totally stretched and my muscles worked!

I already can’t wait to go back next Thursday :)

There’s a few free classes this weekend elsewhere too that I’m hoping to checkout, addicted to yoga much?!

TV Commercials

In other news, remember this little commercial shoot a few weeks ago?  My “big debut” as an extra in a national commercial for Ferguson Enterprises shot right here in Richmond ;)

Not quite as glamorous as the Chobani shoot ;)

I can’t find the commercial online, or else I’d link up to it, but if you see it on TV look for the blondie walking by with her fake husband towards the end.

That’s me!

Well this weekend, early Saturday morning, I’ll be heading downtown to appear in a local shoot for some sort of Richmond ad.  Kinda fun!

Anyone else see me as a jogger?  Well you do now haha :P

Food & Recipes

I plan on doing some cooking this weekend as time allows too.  Hoping to try out a new recipe or two and of course share with you guys!

But in the meantime, let’s wrap up the two dishes that made their way onto CookinFanatic this week shall we?

Maybe you’ll want to invite them into your kitchen for a little fun this weekend as well :D

Broccoli & Cheese Quiche with a Brown Rice Crust

Smoky Lentils over Brown Rice

Wishing I had more of those smoky lentils and hadn’t demolished the massive amount that this recipe made haha :P   So good.

HAPPY FRIDAY!

What’s on your weekend agenda?!

Yoga in the Park and a Food Truck Festival

After all the rain I had kinda forgotten what sunny, blue skies even looked & felt like… anyone else?

Luckily this weekend has had plenty of that in store for us here in Richmond! :D

The weekend started off with an absolutely picture perfect Saturday morning… blue skies, sun a’ shinin’, birds a’ chirping *sighhhh* perfection.

And what better way to start the day than with an invigorating outdoor yoga session?

Salutation Nation 2011 Deep Run Park with the fabulous Brittany from EatingBirdFood and new “blend” (blogger-turned-friend!) Jess from JessCan’tCook!

Salutation Nationhosted by Lululemon, was an opportunity for thousands of people across North America to roll out their yoga mats and participate in a complimentary all-level yoga session outdoors all at the same time – 9am :)

Pretty cool huh?

The practice began with a challenging-for-me 12 minute meditation session (ummm that is toughhhh, my mind is nonstop go go go haha!) and then flowed on into some great power moves, which were just lovely accompanied by the morning sun.

We’ll just forget the fact that the grass was super dewy and I thought I was doing yoga on a slip n’slide for a minute or 27 ;)

Lululemon had lots of fun goodies to hand out as well, including my favorite coconut water, some mini-Luna bars (so cute!) and a few new-to-me snacks.

I cracked into the Health Warrior Peanut Butter Chocolate Chia Bar on my way home from yoga and must say that I loved it!  Perfect little 100 calorie energy power punch. YuM, must find these asap :P

Where’s Waldo? Can ya find me? Lol.

After yoga I took Lucy Dog for a nice long walk then showered up and headed over to our local Whole Foods for their first ever Food Truck Festival!

I brought Fanatic Dad along for some good eats and Fanatic Mom along to pose as photographer.  Kidding friends ;)

But Fanatic Dad was well overdue for a photo-op, no?

It was hoppin’ when we got there but not all the food trucks had opened up and one was still MIA…

Good thing there were some fun samples to keep me entertained!

Fresh salad w/ blueberry vinaigrette plus a new Synergy drink with chia seeds in it.  I loved this stuff!  The texture was super cool.

After a few sun-filled minutes everything got rollin’ and the food carts were ready for some action… some still writing up their menus because they had to make a stop at the farmer’s market for more local ingredients. I can definitely let that slide! ;)

Before arriving at the festival I had my heart set on the Boka Truck, since my last experience with their food was possibly one of the best flavor experiences that I’ve had in this city –> remember this

Buttttttttttttt, after talking with Chef Jesse and doing some thinking, the Habanero Mexican Grill cart ended up stealing my heart…

I just couldn’t resist the thought of authentic fish tacos!!!  I have problems.  Mexican food addicts anonymous over here? Anyone? Anyone?

Layers of fresh corn tortilla, spiced & flaked fish, tomatillo salsa, fresh cilantro and lime…

Get in my bellyyyyyyyy.  This was some kinda good :)

I also fell in love with these absolutely gorgeous dogs while at the festival, not going to lie.  How intense are these “pups”??

Think Lucy would like a buddy?  I could see it now lol…

Pretty sure I’m going to have to keep looking from afar, because if I know Lucy well enough, there’s only room for one pup in this house haha ;)

The day ended with a delicious dinner, but more to come on that later… :D

For now, I’m headed out to the country for the South African Food & Wine Festival at the Grayhaven Winery!!!

I visited this winery a few weeks back and had a fabulous experience so I can’t wait to see what this afternoon has in store :)

Either way, I know it’ll be time spent with great people, good food & wine and some fantastic weather… Be back with a recap for sure, don’t you know it.

Tell me, have you ever done a group yoga event like Salutation Nation?  Did you enjoy it?

This was a first for me but I have to say that I loved it!  I can’t wait for another session like this in town – I’m soooo there :)
