A CPA turned self-taught cook, not something you hear every day right?

Well. That’s me!Β  My name is Stephanie and I’ve spent my life in the beautiful state of Virginia. Most of my time has been spent in the Richmond area, whether the suburbs or the urban “city” life or most recently, a year next to the horses out on the countryside!!

But now I find myself nestled back in Richmond’s charming city lines. With all the fun food and restaurant entertainment a girl could ask for. This city is pretty cool now isn’t it??

With my recent move I’ve carried my passion for all things food with me. And have had the opportunity to do what I love to do best, create delicious and healthy meals for not only myself but a few more household members as well! πŸ™‚

That’s right. A country boy and his pup stole my heart. Luckily he agreed to take his country roots to the city with me, and I’m sure all the delicious meals didn’t hurt in that decision!

Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to not only have the opportunity to share delicious recipes with all of you, but to also be a part of something I have to say, as a CPA, that I never thought I would do!

That’s right. Me. Talking. About food. Shocking to those that know me, I know.Β  But I have to say that being in one of Chobani Greek yogurt’s first yogurt commercials years ago was an experience of a lifetime.

Who knows. Maybe one day you’ll see even more of me on TV… oh wouldn’t that be a dream!Β  (Hello FoodNetwork, how about it?)Β Β

My many years of watching cooking and foodie shows, scouring recipe books, and finding friends and family nice enough to try it with me through it all have all led me here.

You’ll find that as a cook I love to work with healthy ingredients, and definitely like to venture out from just the standard recipe. I love to be creative and explore tastes/combos that are exciting and unexpected and challenge the palate.Β  I also love to prepare dishes that anyone can make, whether you are rushing home from work to get dinner on the table or spending a quiet evening fireside enjoying the sounds of the country life!

I hope that this site will inspire all of you to give some new recipes a try, whether you’re looking at the sunset over a field or at a high-rise next to your own. Because if there’s one thing I have learned, you can take the girl outta the city but you can never take the cookin’ outta the girl…. that’s a saying of some sort, right? πŸ˜‰

Thanks for stopping by!

  26. And yes eating healthy foods is very important as Chobani will now be my main breakfast or snack item since it is organic as well!

  27. Hi Stephanie! I just stumbled across your blog and am so excited to have found the Chobani commercial girl! Well not only have my wife and I started eating the regular 6oz size for breakfast, we have bought the bigger sizes and started to mix it in with our salads when we have dinner, we make sure we eat salads every night before our main course and the yogart has added a nice new taste to out salads!

    • Hey Michael! Thanks so much for the kind words and I’m so glad that you and your wife enjoy Chobani as much as I do πŸ™‚ I bet that a CHO-salad would be delicious, I’m going to have to try that soon!

  30. I just found your blog (love it) but I think I should tell you I suspect we might be soul sistas. 3 main reasons: obsessed with my dog, new home-owner and kickboxing/wine fanatic, not always in that order.
Looking forward to reading more πŸ™‚

    • Hey, thanks so much!!! I think we are definitely soul sistas from the sounds of it πŸ™‚

    Hope to see you soon!

    • Thanks so much!! Kabab Grille is actually on my list of to-try-soon restaurants, a friend and I were just talking about it the other day! You’ll definitely see me soon, looking forward to it.

Hey, I didn’t know how to go about contacting you, so I figured I would just try this! I don’t know if you remember me, but I talked to you probably a year ago about accounting. My old blog was runningtofit.wordpress.com. I recently graduated from Christopher Newport University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting and was wondering if you would mind if I asked you some questions about what my next steps should be.

    Thank you so much,

    • Hey there, of course I remember! I’ll shoot you an email and would love to chat πŸ™‚
