Well, we all knew it would come down to THIS at some point…

Yep. That would be chicken drumsticks plus sambal oelek.

The power couple?

Who marinates food in spice-tastic sambal… hmmm. This girl? 😛

*hangs head in shame*

But before you think I’ve completely lost my mind, there was also a sweet add-in to the mix!

Spicy sambal plus sweet honey… ummm why haven’t I thought of this before?!

These two beauties make a lovely marinade & sauce for the sweet, dark chicken drumstick meat.

Simply spoon over the chicken in a baking dish and allow to hang out for a few minutes while the oven preheats.

Then bake at 350F for about 30 minutes (flipping half way) or until chicken is cooked through.

Then serve!

The sambal and honey mixture makes such a wonderfully thick and glossy sauce, with the perfect amount of sweetness and spice 😀

Plus it’s almost impossible to dry out chicken drumsticks, they come out wonderfully juicy and tender every time versus their white meat counterparts.

I really loved this combo of flavors. Especially for how easy it was too!

Chicken drumsticks are also a great way to eat organic meat for not alot of $$s.  I paid less than $2 for these and they were absolutely bursting with flavor.

And don’t worry, they weren’t too outta control spicy… the honey really smoothes things out here!

Oh hey there deliciously impressive dish requiring little effort and on the cheap no less! You know how we roll around here, someone’s gotta fund all those DC eating adventures 😉
